Here are some of the other dogs we know and play with: from left to
right, Basbeaux, Odo, Steve, Lance, Corky, and Jehan. Jehan is an Afghan,
Steve is H. sapiens, and the rest are greyhounds.
Lance, Odo, and Jehan again.
Here's our friend Gracie, a 7-year-old brindle female greyhound who lives
a few blocks away from us in Queens. She's very shy most of the time, but
she really comes out of her shell when she has a field to run around in.
On Columbus Day weekend, 1997, we travelled to Dewey Beach, Delaware,
for the annual gathering of the GH-L Greyhound Email List. There were approximately
300 people and 300 dogs, 250 of them greyhounds. Try to imagine the sight of 250
greyhounds walking on the beach at once... or perhaps the sight of a beach which
has recently had 250 greyhounds walking on it at once....
Here's a picture of Odo, Basbeaux, and two friends from Northern
Virginia named Cheddar (the orange brindle one) and Highway
(the blue-grey one).
Several of the other greyhounds had a pit-digging contest on the beach. Odo was content to let them do the work, then lie down and enjoy the pit.

Northern Virginia has an active greyhound adoption group. One of their
active members is Dan Schmidt, who in addition to running the Adopt-A-Greyhound
Web page has a fawn male greyhound of his own named Flash. Here are
some pictures from the first time Odo met Flash (we didn't have Basbeaux
yet).
